Fossils and Cement over Bausher

Corer, competir, eu levo isso no sangue, e parte de minha vida
Ayrton Senna

October 2005

We sit still in the moonlight, looking over the southern edges of Muscat. That silver light falls on everything: the beginnings of the Hajar range that we have just climbed, the strip of road way below and the little marine fossils lying on an ancient seabed at our feet. We had stared at those shells hours ago in the dying light of the evening, our wonder broken only by the faint rumblings of a cement plant in the distance.

Twinkling in the distance like a celebratory line, the highway might lead to grander places, and larger adventures. But sometimes, it's the little bits that are the best part.
