That free ticket to a good time is still open at the Patong beach and main street today, although it has matured over the years, losing a lot of its disreputability. In the streets just off the beach, in that tepid heat of an early night, Patong begins to come alive. Neon lights and music spill out of every establishment on the road, and the district seems like one big party that has taken on a life of its own and will not die.
